Safe & Sound
Dear Friend of the studio,
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind and I have a lot to share, but first I must tell you about our ‘Covid Mission’. The philosophy of the studio has always been to make people feel welcome, safe and relaxed so they can play with clay and take some well earned rest time.
As you will no doubt know from our busy booking system we are doing well with this; but it is an extra level challenge with this virus lurking about. I cannot lie, the responsibility of the situation was overwhelming for me, I did consider curling up until it was over! Fortunately for me, Gaye, who joined the team last year, brought all her years of nursing and risk assessment experience with her and got us all sorted!
Read our ‘Class Covid Safety Plan’ here.
We had training session for the regular students who are a wonderous supportive crowd and we have had our first couple of classes. It has gone as smooth as clockwork!
I have never been so prepared for anything in my life, honestly! We trained, we read, we role-played! And it has paid off, listen to one of our first student’s experiences:
‘So good to be back in the studio, Leyla and Gaye had it down to a tea and it felt safe and as relaxing as it did before. They have worked so hard to insure all safety measures are in place, and easy for us to follow while making it feel relaxed and a lovely space to be in. I was in my zone as soon as I was set up in my work place. Thank you so much Xx’ Becky – Saturday Club
Our system comprises of reduced numbers, a staggered entry system, separate tools & equipment, a one way system and two meters between everyone. For a more detailed look, check out our Covid Plan.
We are currently working on separate shifts with gaps in between to reduce the risk of contamination and we do a deep sanitizing clean after every session. It does sound like a lot of work, which it is of course, but it is already becoming second nature and we feel ggod about protecting our faithful students.
Isn’t it interesting how we adapt so quickly in the face of adversity?
