Our Studio Covid Safety Plan
“What an excellent new system! It really made me feel safe!”
Katherine from Kenilworth
Whether you are new to the studio or an old friend you will naturally be wondering how safe it is at this time. We can assure you we have worked tirelessly on a plan to keep you safe and will continue to maintain that promise. We have a track & trace system and have reduced the number of students in the room and can keep everyone at 2 meters while they pot.
Here is the plan
Staff will clean the studio prior to class starting and prepare the studio for students.
Students will wait in the garden / car park on arrival. We ask that you bring with you an apron, towel and your own drinks. We are adopting 2 metre social distancing as far as possible and we ask you to follow this.
Please bring your own face mask and wear it while in the studio space, this may be removed once you are in your two meter bubble. Your teacher will be wearing a face shield
Staff will meet you in the garden and will organise two students to go into the studio at a time to ensure the safest flow within the studio space.
Students are asked to wash their hands downstairs initially, before going up into the studio. and sign our track & trace form.
Sanitisers are available throughout the studio and you are encouraged to use them, along with regular hand washing.
Staff will identify your workspace which will have been prepared with basic tools.
You will be asked to collect your clay and any other equipment you require before going to your workstation. This will enable the staff then to get the next students into the studio.
There are cleaning stations throughout the studio for both you and the staff to use. Staff will be cleaning areas regularly during class.
There is a one-way system around the studio which is marked with arrows on the floor and we ask that you would follow this.
Only one person at a time will be allowed in the kiln room.
At present the kitchen is for staff access only.
15 minutes towards the end of the class, staff will ask students in turn to start cleaning up and wrap pots and label them.
If you have been throwing, you will have your own bucket of water to clean and wash your hands as you go along. Complete your final clean using this bucket and leave the bucket next to your wheel.
All tools should be thoroughly washed at the sink (or in your allocated bucket) and placed in the main tool collection bucket and not replaced on the shelves to allow further deep clean. Please ensure only one person is at the sink at any one time.
Any sponges, rolling cloths etc should be placed in the laundry bag at the sink, please take your personal items home for cleaning.
All banding wheels, boards, rolling pins and guides etc should be cleaned and left on the work table.
Your workstation should be finally cleaned by you.
Wash your hands before leaving and sign out.
The staff will thoroughly clean the studio, equipment and all other areas within the studio after the class.
We hope you enjoyed the class and felt safe, now go home, put your feet up with a nice cup of tea and see you next time😊
