One thing I hadn't foreseen is how people would respond to the space. I knew people would love having more materials and equipment, better light and grown up sized chairs.... I just thought they would be happier. But running classes from a professional space has brought a new more serious approach along with it and the results speak for themselves. When I started running classes I was keen to keep them small because quality of experience is very important to me. I have taught on busier courses where you just feel like you are running around putting out fires... no fun for a student new to clay! So classes have a maximum of 8 people in. This makes for a friendly atmosphere and there is plenty of pottery-wheel time for everyone : )
