Spreading The Clay - Sue Nash our Senior Designer

Meet Sue, our most senior potter. Sue embraces her pottery as she does with life - positive, making the most of every minute, not afraid of pushing boundaries.

Sue has always been creative;  going to art college to learn dress design and millinery. She went onto  work for a theatrical costumier in London making outfits for theatrical shows. Sue went onto design fabric, travelling Europe following up her fabric designs and production

Sue always arrives at the studio with her sketchbook full of her designs and thoughts; always prepared with a vision and a plan. Watching her put her plan into action is fascinating, Sue always appears so relaxed about her making, manipulating clay  and doing things with clay which often wouldn’t work for others but somehow usually works for Sue.

Endlessly creative, Sue’s bookends : )

Sue has made all sorts of handbuilt projects; sculptural, pressmoulds, slab builds and loves the magic of raku. She likes experimenting with colours and glazes and gives herself freedom to try anything.

Sue is a loved member, always encouraging and supportive to fellow potters and loves to share ideas and suggestions  and injects fun and enthusiasm into the studio.

“Pottery means a great deal to me. I first started getting involved in pottery 70 years ago., when I could fit it in around my family life.
I love handbuilding, it keeps my fingers supple and my imagination active! Everyone should try it….. go on give it a go you never know until you try!”

Sue is confident with glazes and manages to work magic!
