Pottery Classes, Workshops and Memberships

Imagine having a creative hobby and new sense of delight in a world that has become so noisy and overwhelming. Imagine taking time for you and creating something precious to use every day or a unique handmade gift for a loved one.

Clay is wonderfully grounding material and in some ways the process of making pottery reveals your soul to you.  Having a place to go to relax and take some time for you to escape the life juggle, and taking care of others can help you to restore peace and balance in your life.

Dozens of women who didn’t think they were creative have joined our pottery family and grown in confidence with the expert teaching and patient guidance of Gaye & Leyla.

Take Caroline, a busy retired mum with a grown-up family; she was curious and came to the studio with a friend for a beginner’s session expecting not to be very good. She made a sweet little pot, she felt comfortable with our nurturing support and her self-belief grew. Three years on Caroline is a Clay Squad member, has her own shelf of clay projects in the studio and has just made the most beautiful lidded jar.

You can meet other lovely women who are like you, while enjoying a new experience in peace of our sky light studio in the beautiful countryside setting.

Starting something a new can be scary. You may have not learned anything new for a while and trying new crafts can be intimating.   We are expert at taking the most nervous beginner and supporting and guiding them to a place of what we call ‘clay bliss’ as our ‘Pottery Family’ members will tell you.

So happy that I discovered The Ceramics Studio. Started with Beginners’ Part 1, managed to throw a couple of “useful” wobbly, small bowls (still in use!) and was addicted.
Am now a Member and have loved the experience of learning something new, expertly guided by Gaye and Leyla. Membership gives me flexibility and access to different courses and ceramic experiences.
10 months on, I am now much more confident in throwing and can throw non-wobbly bowls, lidded jars and vases and glaze them. Am also being guided through hand-building a 3ft bird bath.

If you feel tempted, consider our Clay Day Retreat, no pressure or need for commitment, simply a relaxing day designed for complete beginners as a gentle introduction to pottery.

I had the best time at at the Ceramics Studio. I was slightly apprehensive at first but was soon put at ease.
Great instruction with experienced and passionate teachers.
I managed to successfully throw 3 pots! Beautiful, peaceful location… Bliss. Strongly recommend
